First having breakfast. Then watching a movie: «Das Golddorf»
The monthly w2wtal-breakfast at Café ADA is our most popular and oldest regular meeting, where we meet refugees, old and new friends and activists. Planned as a first step to make contacts for everyone who arrived in our town, the breakfast became more than a meetingpoint. Its not just an opportunity to arrange appointments and activities, it’s also a chance to ask for advise or to exchange views on recent incidents and political developments.
And our breakfast is always a good starting point for further meetings and self-organized initiatives. It starts at 11:00 CET.
The breakfast itself is prepared by supporters and refugees with a friendly help from Café ADA. We always care for the basics (coffee, tea, some bread, cheese, vegetables and so on) and we regulary enjoy contributions by friends and vistors of the breakfast. Feel free to complete our offer yourself by bringing some cookies, bakery, soups and salads or anything else… We don’t take any money for the food and drinks, but we are grateful for voluntary donations.
Last time we had much pleasure watching a movie together afterwards. So we decided to do it again this month. After breakfast – around 14:00 CET – we’ll present the movie «Das Golddorf» in the small room at the groundfloor. As an appetizer we also will watch the short-movie «Der einzige Weg» with our good friends Ibrahim and Wael. It was part of the new «Hin und Weg»-movieroll of «Medienprojekt Wuppertal», which had its premiere last Wednesday.
Don’t fear Germans. Laugh about them.
Our main movie, «Das Golddorf», is a prizewinning documentary about cultural clashes. It watches real strange habits and unusual cultural behaviours of weird people. We watch them through the eyes of two quite normal persons, who came to Germany as refugees in 2014. Among others, both were located in the deepest Bavaria, in a small village at «Chiemgau». There they were confronted with curious people and rather extraordinary cultural traditions.
The movie is never defaming and it tries to keep a relaxed view on this encounters. It wanted to know, if there is any kind of becoming acquainted with each other. At the end it gives an unemotional answer: Its very hard not to live completely separated side by side. The movie is mostly with German subtitles (especially when the Bavarians speak) and it lasts 90 minutes, so screening should end around 16:00 CET.
